-
We
are one of the only UK specialist in APS Film Scanning.
-
We can scan negative, positive, or monochrome (B+W) APS
film which has previous been processed.
-
Our scanners are high quality Film Scanners
specially dedicated for APS film scanning and not cheap domestic units that
many of our competitors use that may damage your film.
-
We can scan any size roll (15,25 or 40) at
one fixed price.
-
Our scanners automatically reads the DX code from
film, giving the correct frame number and colour correction to
each image. Please note, there is no scanner on the market to retrieve
additional data such as date of photo from an APS film.
-
Cleaning brushes remove static and dust before film is scanned. Digital ICE™
Technology accurately identifies any other surface defects on film and
automatically removes them during scanning processes.
-
Scanning capabilities at multiple resolutions gives Mr Scan the flexibility
to meet the most demanding output requirements. The patented high-speed
scanning technology and efficient work flow management software make the our
service an excellent choice!

APS Film Information:
The film is housed in a single-spool 39 mm long plastic cartridge. The basic
diameter is 21 mm, while it measures 30mm at the slot where the film exits.
The slot is protected by a lightlock door. It is available in 40, 25
and 15 exposure lengths. The film surface has a transparent magnetic
coating, and the camera uses this information exchange (IX) system
for recording information about each exposure. The camera handles winding
and rewinding automatically, to the extent that partially exposed films can
be removed and used later. Numbered symbols (called 'visual indicators') on
the cartridge end indicate the status.
Important Notes:
-
Advanced photo system
APS film is
contained within a cartridge, both exposed and unexposed film. On the
end of APS cartridges there is a visual exposure indicator. We can only
scan your APS film that have been processed.
-
If your film is jammed in the cartridge we
will remove the film to process., the film will be same but the
cartridge may be damaged.
-
APS cameras were designed as a mass
produced low cost alternative to 35mm cameras. You will never get
the same quality image from an APS film being scanned to digital
that you will see with modern day digital cameras or old 35mm film
cameras, especially with low light images. We have the best
technology to give great results from APS films however if the
original material is of low quality then so will the digital scan.
-
Our scanners automatically reads the DX code from
film, giving the correct frame number and colour correction to
each image. Please note, there is no scanner on the market to retrieve
additional data such as date of photo from an APS film.
-
APS films must have been previously
processed for us to scan, i.e. you have previously had prints from
the films, any un-processed films will still be scanned and charged
for but will produce no images. Films are also exposed during the
scanning process.
-
Dirty films
(Well looked after APS films will have
next to no dust due to the protective cases they are in)
We avoid touching any film or
negative images, we use air blowers to remove surface dust but if the slides
are dirty or sticky we can not remove this and it may be visible on the
scans. We
use top of the range scanners and digital ice software to reduce the
amount of dust/scratch marks on the digital image but we can not
100% guarantee that all marks will be removed, basically the better
quality your originals the better results you will get, do remember
that film is static and attracts dust. Monochrome images tend to be
slightly worse for this effect due to the digital ice software no
being able to distinguish as well as with colour images. Most of
colour images come our without any noticeable marks, monochrome
usually come of good too. We can attempt to remove this
using our
Photo Restore Service.
-
You only need to send us the actual APS film
itself, please do not send photo prints or boxes as they may not be
returned.
-
We scan the entire film and can not select
certain images to be scanned.
